Governor Inslee has directed that all Washington state and United States flags at all state agency facilities, including school districts, be lowered to half-staff on Monday, May 30 or at the close of business this Friday, May 27 through first thing Tuesday morning, May 31, in recognition of Memorial Day.

Olympia School District facilities that have lights directed on flags may continue to fly flags at half-staff throughout the Memorial Day weekend, including evenings, starting at close of business on Friday.

This federal holiday is in remembrance of the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
