A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 16 for Howard Coble, superintendent of the Olympia School District from 1973 to 1980. Coble passed away on September 22, 2016.
The celebration of life will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Capital Region Educational Service District 113, 6005 Tyee Dr. S.W. in Tumwater. A reception will follow.
In addition to leading the Olympia School District, Coble was a superintendent in the Snohomish School District, served as executive director of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) from 1980 to 1991, and served on the Capital Region Educational Service District 113 Board of Directors since 2000, according to a message from Bill Keim, WASA executive director.
“In his passing, Washington has lost a passionate leader and advocate for public education,” Keim wrote in an email to WASA members.
The district extends its heartfelt condolences to Howard’s family and friends.
