Flags lowered to half-staff July 31 in memory of Kent Police Officer

Flags at half mast outside the Knox Administrative Building in OlympiaGoverner Inslee has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities, including schools and district support buildings, be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, July 31 in memory of Kent Police Officer Diego Moreno. Officer Moreno was killed in the line of duty on July 22, 2018.

Flags will remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

August 21 is deadline to submit OSDEF teacher grant applications for fall 2018

Although applications may be submitted at any time of the year, if funds are needed for Fall 2018, please send an application to the OSDEF as quickly as possible and no later than August 21, 2018.

Grant requests will be evaluated based on commitment to the OSDEF mission: to provide programs and services to students and partners with teachers to enhance educational success and promote learning for all students of the Olympia School District.

Flags lowered to half-staff on July 3

Flags at half mast outside the Knox Administrative Building in OlympiaPursuant to a Presidential Proclamation, Gov. Jay Inslee has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all state agencies, including schools and district support buildings, be lowered to half-staff on July 3 “in solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence at Annapolis, Maryland on June 28, 2018.”

Flags will remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on July 3, 2018.
