OEA members invited to apply by April 1 for professional growth grants

We are pleased to announce there will be $60,000 available for Individual Professional Growth Grants (IPGG) for the period of June 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019 (only courses completed during this time frame will be considered). Should total grant allocations exceed $60,000, no individual grant reimbursement shall exceed $2,000, in any year, for any individual. However, if total grant allocations are less than $60,000, an individual may receive more than $2,000. With that in mind each applicant should apply for all monies spent on professional development during the grant window.

The IPGG is only available to active members of the OEA bargaining unit.

To apply, please complete the IPGG application packet. If more than one person is applying for the same activity, each person must submit an individual application. Please read and follow all application instructions carefully.

IPGG grant scoring and approval is determined by a thorough and convincing explanation of each of the required prompts. The IPGG Committee carefully reads through each submission and accompanying documentation to determine a ranking number between Distinguished (3); Proficient (2);  and Basic (1) using the IPGG rubric.

Applicants can review this rubric in the IPGG Application Packet. For applications to be considered for review each item in the checklist must be completed as instructed. If any of the items on the checklist are not completed, or partially completed, the application will not be considered for review.

IPGG grant funds will not be awarded for the following:

  • Lodging
  • Travel
  • Substitute costs or planning time
  • Software
  • Equipment
  • Supplies
  • Materials
  • Membership fees
  • Personal lessons
  • Consultations
  • Clock hours
  • Lab, equipment, or tutoring fees.

Please Note: If repeating the same course from the previous school year, please explain the reason (i.e. to learn new software version). Taking a course a second time can not apply to a salary increase.

The deadline for submitting the IPGG grant is April 1, 2019. If you have further questions about the application process, please call Christa Hilinski at (360) 596-8545 or Anne Gallagher at (360) 596-8544.

Due to IRS guidelines, reimbursements of personal expenditures are awarded directly to the applicant. Applicants are required to submit documentation of personal payment prior to receiving reimbursement
