Contact Communications staff to archive district-related social media accounts

Graphic titled Olympia School District SoThis is a quick reminder to please let the Communications and Community Relations department know if you have an Olympia School District related social media account which is not currently being archived. What we mean by “district related” is an account which represents a school, program, team or club in our district. We currently have a partial list of these social media accounts being archived, and we’re in that process of updating that list, but we need your help!

An added bonus to letting us know about your district or school related social media account is that we can follow you on social media and share out your content to our 6,000-plus followers. This also allows us to tag you in any posts we push out in which you’re featured.

Our district uses a company named ArchiveSocial to archive all the information pushed out on our district related social media accounts. It is our legal requirement, as a school district, to archive all of our district/school related social media pages, profiles, accounts and content. If you have a district or school related Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube account, please contact us and include the following information:

  • Name of the social media account
  • Type of social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Email address used to create the account
  • Social media handle ( e.g. @olympiaschooldistrict)

Once you send us this information we will check your account against our current list and let you know if you currently have archiving set up or if we need to have you added. If you do in fact need to be set up, we will email you a link that will walk you through the archiving sync process. It’s a one-time step which should only take 2-3 minutes.

For those interested in creating a district-related social media account, please reference this recent blog article for all the specifics.

Ideally, we would like to receive any social media account information by end of day, Friday, May 10.

Thanks very much for your help, and please feel free to contact the Communications and Community Relations department at Ext. 6103 should you have any additional questions.
